Moomba crown for South Melbourne firey

A SOUTH Melbourne-based firefighter has been chosen as one of eight monarchs to head this year’s Moomba celebrations.

Scott McGraw, 39, was crowned as part of Melbourne City council’s move to recognise community and emergency service workers as the true heroes of Melbourne.

He joins representatives from the Country Fire Authority, Salvation Army, Victoria Police, Victoria State Emergency Service, the land and fire management division of the Department of Sustainability and Environment, St John Ambulance and Ambulance Victoria.

Mr McGraw serves as a leading firefighter and hazardous materials technician and is actively involved in the MFB Charity Running Club. He has been with MFB for five years.

Port Melbourne’s Alan Eade was also chosen as a monarch.

Mr Eade, a MICA paramedic, has worked with Ambulance Victoria for more than 22 years.
